CLATSKANIE — A 20-year-old Clatskanie man has been arrested and charged with sex abuse of two minors. Acting on a referral from the Clatskanie Police Department, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office investigated and subsequently arrested Rusty W. Morris with two counts of first-degree sex abuse following a two-month investigation in conjunction with the state Department of Human Services.
In February, CCSO received information from the Clatskanie Police identifying Morris as a possible child sex abuse suspect. A CCSO detective working with DHS conducted an investigation, identifying two child victims who are known to the suspect. The victims are a 9-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy.
After developing probable cause to arrest, Morris was taken into custody on the two charges without incident and was lodged in the Columbia County Jail, where he is currently being held on an $80,000 total bail amount.
