Eight St. Helens and Scappoose high school athletic teams were among the top 10 lists for their respective sports in the Fall 2013 Dairy Farmers of Oregon Academic All-State awards.
The St. Helens football and volleyball teams and the Scappoose girls soccer team all had the highest grade point average for their classification.
The St. Helens volleyball team – which plays in the state tournament Friday and Saturday – had the best GPA among all 5A volleyball teams. The group’s collective GPA was 3.88.
The St. Helens football team also eclipsed the marks of the rest of 5A with a GPA of 3.52.
Scappoose’s girls soccer team had the best team GPA out of the 4A girls soccer programs, grading out at 3.89. The Indians play at home on Saturday in the state quarterfinals.
The following teams were also among the top 10 for their classification: Scappoose volleyball (second, 3.82), St. Helens boys soccer (fifth, 3.53), Scappoose boys soccer (fifth, 3.53), St. Helens boys cross country (seventh, 3.63), and Scappoose football (tenth, 3.10).
