St. Helens High School

Officials with the St. Helens School District released the following statement about the incident at St. Helens High School on Friday, March 2:

Today there was a threat of violence posted on social media directed at St. Helens High School.

Thanks to the quick action of students who did the right thing in reporting the threat through our SafeOregon Tipline, the perpetrator was identified and apprehended by police and is now in police custody. According to local law enforcement the student was apprehended off campus and had no means or access to weapons.  This proved to be a non-credible threat.

Any time there is a safety concern that involves our school, a threat assessment is conducted that involves school personnel, District staff, and law enforcement.

Please remember that using social media to discuss these types of situations often leads to perpetuating false rumors unintentionally. Your ongoing partnership in this area helps keep our schools safe so students can learn and thrive.

Thank you to our first responders, community partners, and parents for their continued support.

Tips can always be made through the SafeOregon Tipline.
