Authorities are investigating a fire in a mobile home park that left one dead in Clatsop County.

Clatsop County Sheriff's Office, Clatsop County Medical Examiner, Clatsop County Fire Investigation Team and Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office are working in conjunction to investigate the death of a man whose body was found at a residential structure fire Thursday evening, Dec. 14.

The deceased was identified as 59-year-old Richard Lee Huddleston. While the investigation is ongoing, investigators do not believe Huddleston's death was suspicious. The cause of the fire also remains under investigation.

On the evening of Dec. 14, Knappa Fire District personnel and Clatsop County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Huddleston's Lois Loop residence. Firefighters worked for several hours to extinguish the blaze that was reported by Huddleston's neighbors.

Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby residences in the small mobile home park, finding Huddleston's body in the residence after the fire was contained. The structure was a total loss.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation should contact their local law enforcement or Detective J. Ryan Humphrey at 503-325-2061; information can also be submitted online to
