State champs

Seven St. Helens BMX riders placed in the top eight at the 2013 state championships.

EUGENE — Three St. Helens BMX riders won state championships recently.

Kyle Dey, James Fleming and Jared Barlow all finished first in their divisions at the state championship race.

Four other St. Helens riders were in the top eight in their class.

Dey won the 6-year-old intermediate division state title. Fleming was first in the 17-year-old intermediate division. Barlow’s title came in the 20 intermediate class.

Kaleb Blackburn was the runner-up in the 15-year-old intermediate division.

Colton Macdannald took third in the state in the 7 novice class.

Jaden Dey and Dylan Backus both took eighth-place finishes, Dey’s coming in the 3-year-old novice class and Backus’ in the 9 novice class.
